Central Sugar Refinery - Going Beyond the Factory Gate.
Central Sugars Refinery Sdn. Bhd (CSRSB) has shown outstanding commitment to continuously improving sustainability standards within their business by achieving VIVE Claim Level again this year.
For Central Sugar Refinery, Sustainability does not stop at the factory gate; they work with VIVE to ensure that the supply chains of products coming into and leaving the factory meet the highest sustainability standards, while also being commercially viable. By creating commercial advantage through sustainability, CSR can apply even more resource to improve their social, environmental and economic contributions to society.
Last week, CSR treated 87 children from Rumah Kasih Harmoni, an orphanage on the outskirts of Kuala Lumpur, to a fun-filled day at an educational theme park, Kidzania Kuala Lumpur.
The children enjoyed themselves with the many interactive role-playing activities; trying their hands at different professions from pilot, dentist, surgeon, postman and the most popular: firefighter.
It was an unforgettable experience for the children. The activities not only showed them possibilities for their future life but also taught them valuable life skills such as earning a salary for a hard day’s work and saving their earnings. It is crucial for children to be inspired and to dream of what they want to pursue when they grow up.
CSRSB hope that these activities will encourage the children of Rumah Kasih Harmoni Orphanage to excel in their studies to become whatever they aspire to be.
The VIVE team applauds Central Sugar Refinery for their contribution to social change and we are honoured to be working with such an inspirational group.
The VIVE team and CSRSB will be hosting a Sustainability Workshop in Kuala Lumpur in early 2020, during which we will be highlighting the key areas in which CSRSB are focusing on sustainable improvements, explaining more about the work of the VIVE Sustainable Supply Programme and introducing our new platform for industrial consumers; Buyers Supporting VIVE.
