The VIVE Programme is delighted to announce that FrieslandCampina has joined Buyers Supporting VIVE
FrieslandCampina is one of the world’s largest dairy companies, owned by a cooperative of over 17,000 member dairy farmers. Every day, they provide millions of consumers around the globe with valuable nutrition from milk and all kinds of dairy products.
FrieslandCampina supplies consumer products, such as milk, yogurt, cheese, infant nutrition and desserts. They also supply products for the professional market, such as cream and butter products, ingredients, and semi-finished products for producers of infant nutrition to the food industry and the pharmaceutical sector. They have branches in 36 countries, export to more than one hundred countries worldwide and employ some 23,816 people.
The purpose of FrieslandCampina is nourishing by nature. In everything they do, they strive to provide better nutrition for the world and good living for their farmers, now and for generations to come.
With milk as their main ingredient for their products, being part of a dairy cooperative means the vast majority of their supply chain is their own. Within both the company as well as the cooperative FrieslandCampina has been running sustainability programmes for many years, from biodiversity to climate, from animal welfare to sourcing.
For the agricultural raw materials outside of the cooperative, FrieslandCampina is committed to 100% sustainable sourcing and a high level of transparency. To them, that also means a positive impact on the – livelihood of - farmers, environment and animals.
As a major buyer of sugar in Thailand, Vietnam, The Philippines, Indonesia and Malaysia, FrieslandCampina’s entry into Buyers Supporting VIVE will not only help farmers who are part of their networks in The Netherlands but those who work in the Far East, driving continuous improvement in sustainable supply chains.
As the VIVE programme expands into a multi-commodity offering, it will allow our clients such as FrieslandCampina to participate in cross-commodity reporting and standardise their KPI’s across a range of commodities.
We look forward to working together to encourage sustainable change at all stages of the supply chain.
