VIVE welcomes Nestlé to Buyers Supporting VIVE

VIVE welcomes Nestlé to Buyers Supporting VIVE

Nestlé has more than 2,000 brands operating across 186 countries worldwide. Nestlé has publicly outlined 36 ambitious commitments that support their work in three impact areas ‒ individuals and families, communities, and the planet.

The VIVE Programme's expertise in sustainable supply chains creates a firm crossover with Nestlé's sustainability commitments. Nestlé has supported VIVE since 2019 when it became the programme’s largest buyer, sourcing sustainably verified VIVE sugar for its manufacturing of food and beverage products in Malaysia and Indonesia. By joining Buyers Supporting VIVE, Nestlé reaffirms its commitment to responsibly sourcing sustainable ingredients and implementing traceability throughout the commodity supply chain.

At the heart of the VIVE programme lies a vision to drive continuous improvement in sustainable supply chain performance while ensuring its participants gain commercial advantage. Encouraged by a ‘pull-through’ effect, participants at the primary production and processing stages of ingredient supply chains are encouraged by end buyers to improve their sustainable practices and meet ambitious sustainable sourcing criteria, which can be rewarded by fruitful purchase agreements and commercial advantages, such as Green Financing. Managed by supply chain services provider, Czarnikow (CZ) and agricultural assessment experts, Intellync, VIVE combines commercial pragmatism with sustainable expertise.

Ben French, Senior Trader at CZ says, “CZ and Nestlé have a supply chain service relationship that stretches decades. We have admired Nestlé's firm commitments and ambitions in sourcing sustainable raw materials during this time. We now look forward to strengthening our relationship through this continuous improvement sustainability journey. On behalf of Czarnikow and the VIVE Programme, I would like to thank and commend Nestlé for its commitment to creating shared value across everything they do and for recognising the VIVE Programme as a source for sustainable products.”

Nestlé join other large multinational food and beverage companies that have lent their support to BSV over the past few years, including Coca Cola, Fraser and Neave, Freisland Campina and Heineken.
